Dmitri Orlov walks the blue line, steps down and puts a charge into a slap shot. The puck hits the back of the net giving Washington a 1-0 lead.

Second Twenty
Early in the second period Seth Jones sidesteps Nicklas Backstrom who trips Jones on the way by. Backstrom is sent off and Columbus heads to the power play.
Jones, off a nice little feed from Panarin, draws a trip. First penalty of the game for either team.#CBJ get first PP.
8:40 - GOAL: Foligno levels game at 1-1. (Murray, Cole)
Ryan Murray threads the needle through the neutral zone to find Nick Foligno gaining the offensive zone. Foligno rips it through traffic and beats Braden Holtby to tie the game.

12:50 - GOAL: Ovechkin buries rebound in front. (Orpik, Djoos)
After Sergei Bobrovsky makes a pad stop on a shot from the point, Alex Ovechkin smacks the rebound on his backhand finds the back of the net. Washington regains the lead 2-1.
18:23 - GOAL -- PP: Ovechkin scores off the left post on the power play. (Carlson, Kuznetsov)
In his usual power play spot from the right circle, Ovechkin rips a one-timer off the post. The bounce off the post goes into the back of the net and Washington leads 3-1 at the end of the second period.
Capitals lead 3-1 after two periods of play. #CBJ with 1:54 left on a power play to start the third.

2:25 - GOAL: Dubois finishes Calvert feed early in the third. (Calvert)
Matt Calvert wins a battle behind the Washington net and feeds Pierre-Luc Dubois. Dubois beats Holtby to bring the Jackets within one goal, trailing 3-2 in the third.
Devante Smith-Pelly comes up the left side of the zone and picks the top right corner to give the Capitals a 4-2 advantage.
5:30 - GOAL - SH: Stephenson goes five-hole shorthanded. (Beagle)
Chandler Stephenson beats Sergei Bobrovsky five-hole while shorthanded to give Washington a 5-2 lead.
8:22 - GOAL: Foligno taps in feed from Jenner. (Jenner, Bjorkstrand)
CBJ Captain Nick Foligno gives Columbus life as he finishes a pass from Boone Jenner on the doorstep. Columbus now trails 5-3.
17:40 - TIMEOUT: CBJ calls timeout down two with two minutes to go.
Sergei Bobrovsky is on the Jackets bench as Columbus will have the extra man out trying to scramble for two needed goals.
